Pieces is a web design project that maps the interconnectedness of fashion, tracing how designers move between houses over time. I designed and built the site in Next.js, developing a feed, designer profile pages, an article view and an interactive map of creative direction.

Pieces is a community-driven platform for documenting fashion history. Contributions, known as pieces, are organized by designer, house, season and year, so every post has a place on a shared timeline. The homepage mixes essays, short posts and images, while each designer page traces the houses they have led.

The map design was built upon research by Ashantéa, aka Mustbemargiela, in her Creative Directory. Each house is paired with the designers who led it, and selecting a name highlights their career with each role listed by year.
Set in Helvetica Neue across a four-step type scale, the interface stays monochrome to read like a printed document, featuring small type intended to communicate a sense of luxury.
