The goal of this project was to design a magazine spread that communicated the visual qualities and history of the typeface Signifier.
Designed by Klim Type Foundry, Signifier challenges modern ideas of materiality through its brutalist influence. Removed from the physical context of architecture, Signifier captures the raw qualities of brutalist construction while remaining unique within its medium of typography.
Each frame was uniquely textured using a variety of media to create an animation with an arts and crafts style. Through this animation, my goal was to capture the creative, Do-It-Yourself nature of Toronto’s art scene.
